2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of TGT. To celebrate this milestone, the company held an event to review its achievements over the past 20 years and to look forward to the future. The event featured guidance from Mr. Edmund Yeung, Executive Director & Chief Financial Officer of its parent company, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited. Mr. Yeung pointed out that as telecommunications demand continues to rise, TGT must respond flexibly to market changes, actively embrace new challenges, and focus on cost reduction and efficiency enhancement to ensure sustainable development and long-term growth.

In 2004, Towngas Telecommunications Company Limited was officially established. The company utilized the Glass-In-Gas (GIG) technology to lay fiber optic networks through gas pipelines and opened TGT Hong Kong Data Centre 1. Since 2006, it has expanded its business to the mainland, establishing data centres in Dongguan, Jinan, Dalian, and Harbin. In 2014, TGT Hong Kong Data Centre 2 commenced operations, attracting several core customers, including Hong Kong Telecom and Hong Kong Broadband, thereby enhancing market competitiveness.

Between 2020 and 2024, TGT promoted innovation by launching a 5G Sharing System in large shopping malls and collaborating with other telecommunications providers to expand its data centre business. The company also initiated smart city projects, launching the property management cloud platform SURE Smart Solution, smart home solutions, and the H1 Lifestyle App, as well as providing fiber optic network solutions in the super Grade A commercial building, The Henderson. Additionally, TGT introduced GO HR cloud human resource management system and CLOUD PABX system, offering tailored solutions for the finance sector, hospitality industry, and small to medium-sized enterprises.

 

TGT has made outstanding contributions to the telecommunications industry and in the areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), receiving numerous recognitions in Hong Kong and the mainland. The company has repeatedly been awarded the Star Award by the Communications Association of Hong Kong, won the Quality Service Award at the China IDC Industry Annual Ceremony six times, and has received the Hong Kong Occupational Safety and Health Award for seven consecutive years, along with being recognized as a “Caring Company” for thirteen consecutive years. These achievements undoubtedly highlight the quality of TGT’ services and its firm commitment to social responsibility.
